Beach path placed at popular Bordeaux spot

A NEW path down to the beach at Banque Imbert, Vale, has been created along with the installation of rock armour along the stretch of earth bank.

The area had seen sections of the bank swept away and so it was decided to reinforce it to prevent further damage during winter storms.

Work started at the beginning of December by contractors working for the States, which said that the path was created to encourage people not to step down the grass bank to access the beach, since this could lead to further erosion.

There was previously a steep drop at Banque Imbert, directly across from Woodies, where the ground had fallen away into the sea over time.

Parish constable Bill Cohu had not had a chance to visit the beach but was pleased at photos he had seen.

‘It’s what was needed there,’ he said.

‘It was very awkward to get down to the beach before.

‘It’s a lovely little beach and really well-used. It’s quite sheltered from some of the winds down there.’

Banques Imbert was the second section of coast in the north to have received new protection recently.

Rock armour was also installed at Rocque Poisson at the end of last year.
