This year’s festival runs from Saturday 22 July to Saturday 5 August and the organising team said it was spreading the word to attract new talent from both on- and off-island.
The open day on Sunday 12 February has been set up in conjunction with the Guernsey Arts Commission and will give prospective performers a chance to meet the team and find out about the festival and even take advantage of an open mic to perform.
There will be stalls run by those involved in the local performance sector and merchandise will be on sale.
And there will be a chance to audition if anyone wants to take advantage of it.
Festival founder and chairwoman Claire Dawson said that there will also be a demonstration of new equipment which the organisers have been able to purchase.
‘Thanks to the funds donated in the buckets last year from the wonderful public, we have been able to buy eight amps, mics and mic stands so that during future festivals the performers won’t need to carry their own equipment into Town,’ she said.
Russ Fossey, head of arts development at the Arts Commission, said it was delighted to be involved in the open day.
‘This is a really proactive approach from the Guernsey Street Festival team in supporting local musicians and performers in honing their skills, giving tips and highlighting the opportunities there are in bringing arts, culture, vibrancy and personality to the streets of St Peter Port.’
A competition to win a Bose speaker is being run by the organisers on the GSF Facebook page for anyone who tags someone who might wish to attend the open day.
The page has more information about the event or anyone interested can email info@guernseystreetfestival.com.
The open day is being held on 12 February in the Johnson Suite at Les Rocquettes Hotel from 2pm to 4pm
