Giant octopus ‘attacks’ gallery

AN APPEAL for help has come from Art for Guernsey after its building was taken over by a giant octopus... or so it seemed after bright green tentacles appeared.

The tentacles sprouted from its Mansell Street building yesterday, causing a lot of excitement on the group’s Facebook page.

The inflatables were made by a friend of artist Teddy Baden, who was one of the artists who created street art to adorn the gallery walls.

Created to tie in with the forthcoming Renaissance of Victor Hugo exhibition, the bright green and yellow appendages emerging from the windows make an eye-catching sight for those venturing into the Old Quarter.

With the new exhibition due to open at 10am on Thursday, director David Ummells said he hoped people would go along to help ‘save’ the gallery from the octopus attack.
