Trial Sunday opening for charity shop

FOLLOWING requests from its keen shoppers, the Health Connections shop in Market Square will now be open on Sundays for the summer.

Sunday opening is being trialled between 11am and 3pm.

But the hope is that Sunday opening – which is unusual for charity shops – will become permanent every year in the tourist season.

‘We’re aware that Guernsey work is very shift-orientated and understand that not everyone can come into the shop during the day,’ said operations manager Kate Bridges.

‘The town centre needs to be supported and offer enough interest that cruise ships and tourists trust that it is worthwhile to visit.’

Health Connections said its shop – which is branded Reloved Living – was in a prime location to take advantage of footfall over both weekend days, especially during the cruise ship season and on Seafront Sundays.

At present, the charity is not intending to open its Smith Street shop on Sundays.
