The event, which raises funds for Les Bourgs Hospice, begins at the top of the Val des Terres at 8.45am on Sunday, heading through St Martin’s and Forest to Rocquaine, then following the coast road to end at North Beach.

‘We have had more interest in it so far than we did at this time last year,’ said Liz Stonebridge of the hospice.

‘A lot of people tend to sign up in the days leading up to the ride once they know what the weather will be like.’

The weather is looking good for the weekend, reaching temperatures of 20C on Sunday with a north-easterly moderate wind.

Additional starting points are available for cyclists who do not wish to complete the full route.

Islanders can join the event at 9.45am at the Imperial Hotel, or 10.45am at Grandes Rocques.

It is not a race and everyone can go at their own pace but are encouraged to finish by 2pm.

The event also marks the final day of a month of cycling for the special group who signed up to Ian Brown’s 30/30 cycle fundraiser, which also raises money for the Les Bourgs.

They will be meeting up to cycle along the eastern seafront together at 11am.

Rock to Rocque entry is £15 for adults and £5 for under-18s. Participants can sign up on the day.
