In their first weekly hour long broadcast Anna Tangham, Poppy Gauvain, Aleks Jakubowska, Isaac Maurice, and Summer Prince hit the decks with a playlist including Harry Styles, Coldplay, Maroon 5 and The Killers.

‘The younger people brought a real smile to everyone’s faces with their enthusiasm to work outside their comfort zone,’ said station manager and DJ Ian Taylor.

‘You could see their confidence growing throughout the show and we really look forward to hosting them every week.’

The show, which goes out at 7pm every Thursday night was the brainchild of Mr Taylor’s wife, Veronica, who has just started working at the youth club.

Mrs Taylor also presents her own country music show on Monday nights.

The first youth club broadcast coincided with the launch of the Riduna Radio app on iOS and Google, and the launch of the Alexa Skill for Amazon devices.

Mr Taylor said this made it even easier to hear the station anywhere in the world.

‘People can download the Alexa Skill from the website and launch the skill on their Alexa device. You will then be able to listen to Riduna radio by asking Alexa to ‘launch Alderney online’.

The power of being digital means the station can be heard across the world and they have already clocked up listeners and downloads in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Faroe Islands, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Hong Kong and of course Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.

‘We even have car stickers in vehicles driving round Brisbane and Perth,’ he said.
