The dairy has been named the winner of The Soil Association’s ‘Best Everyday Dairy’ at the 'Boom' Awards for its Organic RSPCA Assured A2 Milk.

Guernsey Dairy’s Organic RSPCA Assured A2 Milk adheres to Soil Association standards, which requires cows to be fed a wholesome diet free from artificial additives, chemicals, and genetically modified ingredients.

Les Fauconnaires Farm, under the care of Jim and Liz Naftel, is the island’s only organic farm, which supplies the dairy with about 1,000 litres of organic milk every week.

Guernsey Dairy’s quality and compliance manager Alex Tielles gave credit to all involved.

‘This is an amazing achievement for everyone involved and we are extremely proud of Les Fauconnaires Farm,’ she said.

‘Jim and Liz work incredibly hard with our Guernsey Dairy team to make sure the very best product gets to our customers. I’m delighted to see the farmers and our team recognised for their hard work and commitment to organic farming, which puts a clear focus on animal welfare and land management.’

Mrs Naftel said the family was delighted with the win.

‘We are very proud to have won the award and it is wonderful for Guernsey to be recognised in this way,’ she said.

‘There was a good demand for locally-produced organic milk which we were happy to fill and we have been doing that for the last 23 years.’

The Boom Awards are the UK’s only organic awards.

The Soil Association is the UK’s leading organic certifier and its awards are held at a time of continued growth in the organic market, which this year reached a market value of £3.1bn.
