Police warning after car burglaries in north
REPORTS of a car burglar in the north of the island are being investigated by police.
A large sum of money was stolen from a vehicle parked overnight in Clos de Bordage, St Sampson’s, between 5.30pm on Tuesday and 6.30am yesterday. Other items were also taken. Police issued an appeal for help and a warning that a person had been seen attempting to enter vehicles around the area of Bordeaux.
Immediately two more people came forward to report cars being entered and cash or valuables being stolen. All the incidents took place between Bordeaux, Grandes Maisons Road and the Bridge. Police are linking all three thefts.
They asked people to check private CCTV and offer any relevant footage, and to check vehicles and report if anything has been stolen, and to lock their cars.
‘While we are all fortunate that Guernsey is a very safe place to live, denying potential criminals the opportunity to commit crime is an important part of preventative policing,’ said a spokesman.
