Nearly 150 Year 9 students competed against each other to guess which sector each visitor was representing and had to come up with a job title for each letter in the alphabet.

Students Isla Frith, 13, and Rasi Blondin, 14, were proud to have won both competitions.

‘We had to guess where the visitors had come from by asking them lots of questions, a bit like the Guess Who? game,’ said Isla.

Rasi said that it was good to see so many sectors represented.

‘We did pretty well in both competitions, we came joint first in guessing where the visitor was from and won the alphabet job title game,’ she said.

Personal development lead Lee Thomas, who had started his career cleaning toilets on an RAF airbase as a teenager, said that he motivated himself to get good GCSEs so that he could get a good job that was not cleaning up after airmen.

‘It doesn’t matter where you start, you’ve just got to keep climbing,’ he said.

A display board in the school’s lobby displayed the students’ future aspirations including interior designer, soldier, lawyer, musician, MMA champion and hairdresser.

Some others wrote things such as kind, successful, happy, rich, trillionaire, content creator and Twitch streamer. It formed part of its involvement with National Careers Week.

Information posters on the display showcased what each key stage should be doing to help them decide what career path to take and how they could do it.
