Historic sites will play host to a range of special events
A range of special events have been planned for the Guernsey Museum’s sites this summer, with Castle Cornet, the Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum and the German Naval Signals Headquarters officially opening yesterday.
‘We have an exciting and busy programme of events on throughout the summer,’ said head of heritage services Helen Glencross.
At Castle Cornet there will be celebrations for Liberation Day, where entry into the castle will be free all day, as well as celebrations for the King’s Birthday on 15 June where there will be a 21-gun salute and free entry into all museums.
The castle will also host a variety of performances over the summer months including the Fete D’Etai on 18 August.
‘We have the KMPG Castle nights back again this year and there will also be a medieval day at the castle,’ said Mrs Glencross.
There are three special exhibitions on at Candie Museum over the course of the year, including the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, which is being displayed until 7 April.
The Amazing Creatures Exhibition which will run from the 26 April until 15 September and the contemporary photography exhibition, A Special Show, which will run from 4 October until 31 December.
‘We have some really special exhibitions on at the Guernsey Museum at Candie,’ said Mrs Glencross.
Candie will also be home to the two-day Herstory Fest, which celebrates the history of local women on 13 and 14 April.
For the Rocquaine Regatta, Fort Grey will have a Pirates at the Fort event with pirate-themed activities.
