Alderney harbour moorings servicing start next week
ALDERNEY’S outer harbour moorings will start getting serviced next week, as the port prepares for the summer season.
Harbour staff have started their pre-season programme, which will result in some disruption for users.
The servicing of all the outer harbour moorings will start next Wednesday.
The diving and servicing works will take approximately 14 days to complete, the Alderney Harbour Authority confirmed.
‘During this time crane activity will be restricted to cargo discharge activity and essential lifts only to ensure that the project does not suffer unnecessary delays,’ a spokesman said.
There is also currently engineering work replacing the shoreside structures, which anchor the dinghy pontoon. That is nearly completed.
The inner pontoon section and walkway is currently scheduled for lifting next week. The passenger landing section is expected to be lifted in at the same time, weather dependent.
The outer sections will then be added according to demand as the season progresses.
Renovation work on the harbour showers is still taking place, meaning its reopening has been pushed back to later in April.
The water taxi service will commence on Friday 12 April, with initially a limited weekend-only service.
