Sixteen of the cars driving as part of the run belonged to the visiting members of the Dorset Car Club.

‘This is the Dorset Car Club’s fourth visit to the island and this month’s run coincided with their visit, so of course we invited them to be a part of it,’ said Paul Billington from the Guernsey Old Car Club.

‘I have put together a historical run around the whole island for them.’

Guernsey Old Car Club vice-president Michael Fattorini said that Guernsey was an ideal place for car clubs to visit.

‘It is great for the car clubs who want to travel,’ he said.

‘They can be based in a hotel and then take a loop around, because if they break down nowhere is too far for them to walk.’

Gary Mann arranged the visit to the island.

‘Being the social secretary I organise all of our trips and we try to go on one holiday a year,’ he said.

‘We have been to the north of France and the north of Spain, but this year was Guernsey’s turn and we have really enjoyed it.’

The car club spent the first few days visiting Herm and Sark, as well as driving around the island on their own runs.

‘We’ve been around the island and to Herm and Sark, we have had a lovely time and the weather has been kind to us too.’

This run was the 'cobwebs' run for the Guernsey Old Car Club with a lot of people using it as an opportunity to get their cars out for the first time this year.

‘This has historically been our first run of the year, hence the cobweb theme, but we now do them monthly,’ said club member Jean Bishop.

The cars from the Guernsey members were decorated in spring floral arrangements and cobwebs to celebrate the first run of the spring.
