Forest School wins de Putron Challenge
A team from Forest Primary School has won the de Putron Challenge Year 6 final across the islands.
After the finals in Jersey were postponed due to fog, the local teams headed to Beau Sejour to compete over a live video link.
The Forest School team of Max Sykes, Thomas Graham and Joseph du Plessis beat Jersey College Preparatory by six points, and scored 26 overall in the Year 6 final.
‘I didn’t think that we would get to the inter-island final, but I’m so happy we have won this year’s challenge,’ said Joseph.
‘I’m very happy about our performance today and it’s been such a fun event to take part in.’
Jersey’s Victoria College beat Les Beaucamps High to the Year 8 title by four points.
Hayley de Putron, the founder of the de Putron Challenge, congratulated both schools on their success: ‘All of the teams who competed today performed to such a high standard, and they should all be extremely proud of themselves,’ she said.
‘Thank you to everyone who was involved in another fantastic de Putron Challenge. I look forward to what is to come next year.’
The de Putron Challenge aims to showcase the brightest young minds across Guernsey and Jersey. It challenges Years 6 and 8 pupils in a live quiz format on their general knowledge, maths and creative thinking skills.
