Four islanders recognised in King’s Birthday Honours
A charity campaigner, a jurat, a civil servant and an ambulance officer have all been recognised in the Kings Birthday honours list.
Torteval church warden and Jurat David Robilliard was awarded an MBE for services to the church and to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, while Wellbeing Animals Guernsey founder and Grow director Marguerite Talmage was awarded the BEM for services to the community in Guernsey.
The States international relations director, Jo Reeve, was awarded the BEM for services to government in Guernsey, and St John’s chief ambulance officer Mark Mapp was awarded the King’s Ambulance Medal.
A reception to recognise the four islanders is being held at Government House this morning.
Lt-Governor Richard Cripwell said he was delighted that His Majesty had recognised the achievements of islanders.
‘Each of the recipients have made significant contributions to their communities over many years and this public recognition is richly deserved. I congratulate them all.’
Mr Robilliard, who is marking his 52nd year on the Guernsey Deanery Synod this year, said he had not expected to be recognised.
‘It’s a massive honour and totally unexpected,’ he said.
Mrs Talmage has been involved with numerous charities.
She said she always chose to get involved with causes that she really believed in.
‘And I put my heart and soul into them,’ she said.
Mr Reeve has been a civil servant since 1998.
‘For me, this is an award on behalf of the fantastic external relations team, including the offices in Brussels and Caen,’ said Mr Reeve, who is currently director of International Relations and Constitutional Affairs for the States.
