Total Chaos up at Pleinmont this weekend

The roar of motorbikes and raucous strains of rock music will ring out across the cliff tops of Pleinmont this weekend, as Chaos returns.

Organisers and volunteers have been working away to transform the cliff top into a festival with multiple tents, stages and a camping area.

‘We put the main tent up last Sunday, when lots of the crew weren’t at work, and today we’re working on the main stage and beer tent,’ said organiser ‘Ozy’ Chris Chadwick.

‘All of the wiring is now going in, the PA systems are arriving and the crew are working around the clock to make everything nice for when people arrive this weekend.’

The main marquee will be hosting the Greenman stage and the bar, showing a mix of alternative music.

The Peace Tent is back again to bring a different vibe to the festival, and the main field will host the food vendors and the bike area.

‘Ticket sales have been really good, we sell tickets in advance but there are also always some tickets on the gate on the day,’ said Mr Chadwick.

‘There will be lots of fun and games all weekend and we have arranged a screen for Sunday for the England match so people won’t have to miss out.’

Volunteers will be on site the entire weekend sorting through rubbish to prove the critics wrong and leave the site in an even better condition than before the festival.

Pocket-sized ashtrays will be handed out once again, although people who have received one in previous years are asked to re-use them.

Lihou Island will be the beneficiary of this year’s Chaos festival after the damage caused in Storm Ciaran.

The festival kicks off this afternoon, with Foxy Stoat Seeks Pig, Coastal Fire Department and Sarnia performing today. The event will run until Sunday evening.

  • Tickets can be bought at chaosevents.com. Under-14s are admitted free with a ticket-buying adult. Under 18s are welcome to enjoy the weekend, but most go home at midnight. ID to prove age may be required when entering Chaos.
