Dara turns detective to get his stolen notes back

Comedian Dara O Briain had to turn detective at the weekend, after his notes were stolen from a Guernsey gig.

Dara O Briain had been performing a show at St James on Friday when he noticed afterwards that his notes were missing from the stage.

The Irish performer did two sold-out shows at St James and took to social media to say how much he had enjoyed the venue.

However, he then went on to detail an unexpected theft on Friday night.

‘On stage there’s lots of foliage and at the end of the gig, I went back out and my notes were missing,’ he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘So we launched a massive search, including going over all the security footage and we found the moment of theft.’

He shared the grainy footage, which showed a person reaching through the foliage to take the notes.

‘So we saw who it was and it turns out they were people I’d met after the gig, who said “you must come for a drink with us” and told me where they were. So I went and I said “hello, I’d like my notes back please”. And they were a bit sheepish about it.’

The post has been sent by about half a million people and attracted more than 100 comments.

Several have asked if the comedian was interested in the lead role in the remake of the Jersey-based detective drama series Bergerac, which is to start filming soon.

After 11pm on Friday the venue emailed everyone who had booked tickets for the show, threatening to go to the police in the morning if the notes were not returned that night. ‘We know who it is and have video of you doing it,’ it said.
