Ross Le Brun, of the Facebook page Dad Makes Stuff, is organising the event for the second time after seeing it done in America.

‘It’s something I always wanted to see being done but it never happened, so I tried it myself,’ he said.

‘The island needs something like this – it’s accessible in many ways.

It’s cheap to buy and it’s non-toxic, there’s not a lot to do on the island without a cost. Some people truly have nothing to spend on activities.’

‘Kids can be left out because their parents can’t afford to get them involved in other art projects.’

Mr Le Brun advised that if anybody wished to enter for the prize competition, entries must be started by noon at the latest.

‘People who want to be in the competition will need to be done by 3pm, so that winners can be announced at 4pm. They will need to stick around – maybe they can bring a picnic,’ he said.

Prizes will include aprons with pockets. Creasey’s has donated additional prizes, with its customers encouraged to donate some chalk.

San Lorenzo Van Centre has sponsored the event by providing chalk.

Last year creative designs included dinosaurs and fictional characters such as Peppa Pig and Moomin.

Mr Le Brun said that anybody who wanted further details for 10 August should check out the Dad Makes Stuff Facebook page.
