Musicians, actors, dancers, mermaids, storytellers, cartoon characters and stalls from various local artists have swarmed upon St Peter Port for the last two weeks. However, today is the final chance to catch them.

Festival founder and chairwoman Claire Dawson said that the organising committee was 'over the moon' with how the festival had gone.

‘The first week weather wasn’t great, but the second week has been fantastic, and all of the acts we are just so proud of what has been achieved,’ she said.

‘Bowjangles have just been so much fun, it just takes one look at the crowds they are attracting, they just have something for everybody, but our local acts have really been incredible too.'

The Guernsey Street Festival charity was founded to showcase local talent, celebrate visiting entertainers, provide a platform for performers of all genres, encourage people into Town to shop locally and promote community spirit.

‘We wouldn’t have been able to do this without our volunteers,’ said Mrs Dawson.

‘Looking out into the crowds and everyone has smiles on their faces, but those people would not be smiling if it weren’t for all our volunteers who have made it all happen.’

As of next week, work will begin on gathering sponsorship for next year’s festival.

The committee is looking to find £60,000.

‘We’ve had amazing feedback and this has been our best one yet,’ said Mrs Dawson.

‘We are so ready for our five-year anniversary next year and that is going to be even bigger.’

There will be an awards evening this evening with drinks and street food, and awards for a number of different performance categories.
