Staff give the Royal Court the run around

ROYAL Court staff, family and friends spent their Friday walking a 250m circuit around the court building to raise money for Les Bourgs.

The event was created by Laurence Hill-Tout, Amy Hallett and Marc Davies last year, and was such a success they held it again.

‘We can’t always do charitable events and big charity days so we came up with this idea last year and it was a real success,’ said Mr Hill-Tout, principal deputy greffier.

‘The aim is to do as many laps around the building as we can and raise money for charity.’

The team chooses a charity which resonates with them that year.

Les Bourgs is this year’s charitable cause in honour of colleague Sarah Smith, who died of cancer earlier this year and spent her last days at Les Bourgs.

‘We’ve been working on a smart court programme, making things more digital and CBO has been helping us with that project. They brought a bar and some drinks along for people taking part,’ said Mr Hill-Tout.

‘There is also a cake sale as well to raise some money.’

The event took place from 9am to 4pm and the aim was to have a continuous relay of people making their way around the building.

Last year, staff completed more than 1,200 laps and raised about £1,300.

This year’s goal was to beat those figures.
