Brittany Ferries chosen as preferred ferry bidder by Guernsey

GUERNSEY is pushing ahead with appointing Condor's parent company as its preferred bidder, after the islands failed to reach a consensus.

It was believed that the battle for the Channel Islands ferry route tender was between Brittany Ferries - which is a shareholder in Condor - and Danish ferry company DFDS.

However it was confirmed tonight that Guernsey and Jersey have failed to reach a shared view over the last 10 months of discussions.

So Guernsey's Economic Development committee has selected Brittany Ferries as its preferred bidder to provide lifeline sea links for the islands.

The committee decided unanimously to appoint Brittany Ferries as its preferred bidder.

Guernsey’s preference remains a shared pan-Channel Island service with Jersey, but Economic Development is still awaiting word from their Jersey partners.
