The new surgery is at the former site of the States Education Offices. Just 200 metres away from the practice’s current site, it is more than double the size of the existing surgery.

‘The surgery closed at 6pm and everything is being moved down over the weekend before we reopen on Monday,’ said practice manager Rob Jordan.

‘We’ll be moving everything down with a limited number of staff and White & Company removals.’

The new site was sold by the States to the medical practice in May 2022 for £1.56m.

It was the base for The Ladies’ College until 1965 and later became the States Education Offices.

Since the purchase of the site, extensive work has been carried out to update the building and make it suitable as a surgery.

The surgery was only handed the keys by contractor Ravenscroft yesterday to get the furniture moved in.

It has 18 consultation rooms for doctors and nurses, and a room for minor operations.

The practice’s current building near the corner on Queen’s Road was sold in November 2022, along with the site that houses the Longfrie surgery for just under £3m., by Medico Properties Ltd, a company set up by a group of retired doctors, to chartered surveyor Jeffery Doble.

The new Queen’s Road surgery will reopen on Monday at 7am at its location on the Grange.

The Longfrie surgery will remain open today for appointments.
