‘It’s going brilliantly, we’ve been busy for coffee, busy for lunch and we’ll be busy for dinner,’ said co-owner of La Perla Dinarte Fernandes during the day.

Over 50 people came in for coffee and lunch and Mr Dinarte added the restaurant had around 74 customers booked for the evening. Many customers who came in to support La Perla’s charity day also brought tickets for the raffle the restaurant was holding for Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association. In all it sold more than 250 tickets.

A table filled with raffle prizes, donated by companies and restaurant customers, was situated by the door to the restaurant.

Prizes included four hours of building work, a dentist’s appointment, handmade croquet items made by Mr Dinarte’s mother, many bottles of wine, and a large blue dinosaur teddy bear.

‘People are very generous, they pay the bill, give tips and put some money for the raffle,’ said Mr Dinarte.

‘We want to thank everyone who has donated to and worked for charity day. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of them.’
