The Nocq Road site offers a ‘warm welcome’ when temperatures fall below 7C.

Tomorrow’s maximum temperature is 6C, and the mercury has been plunging to around zero in recent days.

‘The cafe is a popular meeting space for many islanders and we are happy to continue to provide this service in our very welcoming cafe for anyone who might enjoy meeting people in a warm and friendly community space,’ said Major Andrew Diaper-Clausen.

A lively musical afternoon will be held later this month with musicians from the Healing Trust.

The Charlies will perform at 1pm on Wednesday 22 January.

A trial of the Repair Cafe has also begun at the centre this month and the Thursday Bowls Group at the Citadel, L’Islet, has also restarted and is welcoming new members.

‘We have learned to play outdoor bowls, and organised darts sessions and other indoor activities as the weather changed, but mostly the Thursday morning group simply enjoys a chat over coffee and biscuits,’ said community coordinator Jill Chadwick.

‘It’s a very friendly group made up of people of all ages and walks of life and everyone is welcome, just turn up at the Citadel at 10.30am.’

The cafe on the Bridge opens Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.30am to 1pm.

The charity shop at the rear of the cafe is open until 2pm on those days.
