Guernsey International Business Association, Hospitality Association, Construction Forum, Institute of Directors, Guernsey Retail Group, Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Guernsey Industry, and the Association of Guernsey Charities have all worked together on the project.

‘Collaboration is key, and by pooling our expertise and resources, we can achieve so much more,’ a group spokesman said.

‘We aim to identify the challenges and opportunities that matter most to our community. This feedback will guide our collective efforts to support and advocate for the success of local businesses in Guernsey.’

People responding to the questionnaire are asked to rank the key challenges facing the island from a list of seven including housing, sustainable public finance, air and sea links, education and skills, economic growth, red tape and ‘other’.

There are then further follow up questions on some of these topics. The spokesman said that after initial discussions there had been unanimous agreement that the island’s housing crisis is a critical issue impacting the broader economy.

‘From skill shortages to workforce development, addressing housing challenges is vital for sustaining Guernsey’s economic health and long-term growth,’ he said.

‘This survey aims to identify the most pressing policy priorities for government action and will also serve to educate potential candidates running in the 2025 general election about the critical issues shaping Guernsey’s future.’

Chamber of Commerce executive director Alice Gill said the election made 2025 a pivotal year.

‘We will ensure the incoming government and election candidates understand the real priorities and challenges facing Guernsey’s business community,’ she said.

‘This survey addresses key issues impacting Guernsey’s future – housing, public finances, connectivity, education, and economic growth.

'By sharing your views, you are helping us advocate for meaningful change and a stronger, more prosperous Guernsey.’

More than 200 surveys were completed within the first day of release.

n The survey is open to all until Friday 31 January. It can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/NMYFMZY
