Cancer charity to benefit from money raised by rally
About £3,000 has now been raised for the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief in memory of motorsport stalwart Graham Robert.

At the presentations following last weekend’s rally, a cheque for £2,200 was handed over, in the presence of Graham’s wife Sally.
Winning Jersey navigator Domonic Volante took it upon himself to raise even more money during the evening, collecting more than £600 from those attending.
Graham navigated for his brother John Robert from 1984 into the early 1990s.
John is now a top motorsport official in Jersey, and drove the ‘zero car’ in the Guernsey Rally.
He said that it had been quite an emotional weekend.
‘With all the negativity over the past couple of years, this was completely different. There were people out having barbecues outside their houses, drinks in hand, it was unbelievable,’ said John.
‘The Peninsula Hotel was rammed out on the grass there, on Saturday night it was packed, and if that’s not good for a hotel then I don’t know what is.
‘I think that maybe not having it last year did some good for us in a way.
‘I’m amazed what I’ve seen from my car this year with the number of people out there watching.’
He said that residents living on rally routes were making teas and coffees for marshalls and officials, delivering them cakes and ice-creams, or letting them use their toilets.
‘Without Karl Marshall and Caren Vidamour, we wouldn’t have a rally, I don’t know how they do it,’ he added.
‘Kay Taylor has been monitoring the Facebook page, and has done an incredible job. There has been a lot of hard work from a lot of people.’
