Vive La Vallette to benefit from ‘Stealth’
Bathing pools charity Vive La Vallette is set to benefit from the sale of a rare kinetic sculpture at an auction next week.

The sculpture, made by internationally renowned artist Ivan Black, has been donated to the charity, and it is now set to go under the hammer at local auction house Martel Maides on Wednesday morning.
Entitled ‘Stealth’, it is made of stainless steel, weighs 150kg and measures 3m by 1.2m.
It is expected to fetch between £10,000 and £15,000.
Vive La Vallette operations director Helen Bonner-Morgan said the charity was grateful for the donation, which came from a donor with connections to the island.
‘We got given it last year, maybe the year before,’ she said.
‘We explored the possibility of installing it somewhere at the bathing pools, but unfortunately there were too many logistical challenges associated with that.’
She said Mr Black’s work was often highly sought after, making the piece very desirable.

Mr Black has more than 120,000 followers on Instagram, and has worked with clients including global computer software company Adobe.
Mrs Bonner-Morgan was thrilled Martel Maides was helping bring the sculpture to auction.
‘Not only will the proceeds directly support our mission to continuously re-invigorate La Vallette and the community it serves, but the sale also highlights the power of creativity to make a real difference.’
Martel Maides auctioneer Guy Cooper said it was ‘incredibly rare’ to see an artistic piece of such calibre at auction.
‘This is a fantastic opportunity for art collectors, philanthropists and homeowners looking for a breathtaking statement piece.
‘I’m optimistic that we will have interest from people not just in the island but around the world too.’
Online bidding will be available for those unable to attend in person.
Interested bidders can view the piece, which is currently in storage, by appointment or via the bathing pools’ social media channels ahead of the event.
