Election? Max has a dog in this race

As election day dawns a new pedigree of candidate is giving voters paws for thought.

Eagle-eyed voters around the Rohais may have noticed a number of posters announcing a new canine-didate.

Cocker spaniel Bramble is prepared to unleash his full potential and work himself to the bone in his efforts to be top dog.

Owner Max Carling said Bramble’s decision to stand had come after one of his friends, pondering the list of candidates, had remarked that his dog could do better.

‘It’s really spiralled since then,’ said Mr Carling.

‘Is all just a good bit of good natured Guernsey fun. So vote Bramble – the one candidate who won’t get upset if you call him a son of a bitch.’

Mr Carling said he had complete faith in his spaniel and promised this was one pooch-itician who would never be hounded out of office.

At the ripe old age of 11, Bramble maintained he had experience on his side and believed the other candidates were all bark and no bite.

And Bramble has some exciting policies ‘fur’ the people, including providing more lampposts, affordable kennels and a punitive GST on cats.

However, despite every dog having his day, islanders hoping to actually see Bramble become president of ‘Bone Affairs’ will be sadly disappointed, as without his name on the official ballot paper it does seem unlikely that Bramble will be able to take a place within the pack of new deputies.

However, Bramble’s election posters have inspired some real-life candidates, who have photographed themselves with the boards.
