SAILORS, a mermaid, a pirate, an octopus and a puffin were among the maritime creatures taking a toddle through the streets of St Anne's last Saturday.
They were taking part in Toddle Waddle, a mile-long sponsored walk to raise funds for the Alderney Baby and Toddler Group.
The theme of the event was 'under the sea'.
Starting from the Butes Centre, participants walked or were pushed up Victoria Street and along the High Street, swinging seaside buckets for passers-by to drop coins into.
The Baby and Toddler Group meets on two afternoons per week and is aimed at providing a safe and stimulating play area for under fives, plus a place where parents can come together and chat. A nurse also visits to address any baby health concerns they might have.
Earlier this year, the charity faced closure because of rising overheads and it needs more than £2,000 annually for running costs.
Fundraising representative Annabel Tate said they had collected £125 on the day and £625 had so far flowed in from sponsors.
