Ministers visit Alderney to discuss tax review
THE States of Guernsey Treasury and Resources Minister Gavin St Pier and Chief Minister Allistair Langlois will travel to Alderney this afternoon to answer residents' questions on proposals to overhaul the personal tax, pensions and benefits regime.
The package of measures includes people across the Bailiwick working until they are 70, the possible introduction of a consumption tax and scrapping a range of universal benefits.
The overhaul aims to address the shift in demographics across the Bailiwick which sees more people living longer.
Deputy St Pier, pictured, and Deputy Langlois will outline the proposals to the public, and collect views on them, with an aim to informing Alderney's response to them when they come before the States of Guernsey for voting later this month.
