Alderney representative Graham McKinley raised the concern, which he said was coming from a large part of the community, after he had quizzed Guernsey's chief minister, Jonathan Le Tocq, about the potential role that could be played by the Bailiwick.

He said he had raised questions, during States question time to try to get a clear idea of the current status, whether the States was potentially looking to support refugees or economic migrants and asylum seekers, and to address concerns that some people were suggesting Alderney could house a number of refugees.
