Aurigny and Flybe drop debit charges
AIRLINE passengers will no longer be charged for using their debit card when booking flights with local operators, it has been confirmed.
AIRLINE passengers will no longer be charged for using their debit card when booking flights with local operators, it has been confirmed.
Flybe and Aurigny announced yesterday that they have scrapped the controversial fees - Blue Islands has never charged for using cards and was highly critical of its rivals for doing so.
The move follows a damning report by the Office of Fair Trading at the end of last year, which led to the UK Government announcing plans to ban 'excessive fees' for using a debit or credit card to book flights.
Flybe took action first, announcing the move as part of its 'Making Flying Better' brand and product relaunch.
Aurigny then followed, with managing director Malcolm Hart saying: 'We are delighted that we are in a position to make this change.'
