Santa and reindeer land on shop
HERM is getting ready for the festive season and making the most of the mild autumn weather with free weekend shopping trips until mid-December.
The Christmas shopping trips run every weekend until Sunday 13 December. Travel Trident will put on free boats on both Saturdays and Sundays and the gift shops and Mermaid Tavern are open all day to welcome visitors.
The shops sell a wide range of goods.
This year, island gardeners Brett Moore and Roseanne Wheeler, helped by Brett's young son Harry, have built a fantastic Christmas display on the shop roof.
Santa's sleigh and reindeer have been made from Herm wood and logs and decorated with twig antlers and fairy lights. It is a simple, but lovely, way to use the island resources.
The Mermaid Tavern is now open on limited winter hours, mainly weekends and on Wednesdays when there is an extra lunch boat through winter. For the shopping trips, the Mermaid is open both weekend days to feed and water the hungry shoppers.
