A FACE-TO-FACE briefing on Sark's progress was appreciated by the UK minister with responsibility for the Channel Islands, the Commerce and Employment minister has said. Deputy Kevin Stewart, pictured, met Minister of State for Justice Lord McNally at this month's British-Irish Conference in Jersey.

'Because of his position we are often exchanging emails,' he said.

'However, nothing beats 30 minutes' face-to-face explaining how things have progressed, talking about the economic development meetings and how they were received.

It was good to be able to have time to share that.' He added the meeting was timely for Lord McNally, who was recently questioned by the Justice Select Committee as part of its investigation into the UK's relationship with the Channel Islands.
