Call for public meeting on Sark electricity plan

MORE information needs to be given to Sark residents so they can make an 'informed decision' about electricity in the island.

Published

Earlier this year its government announced it wanted a £6m. cable link with Guernsey installed, which it believed would have seen the unit price of electricity fall from the current 59p – triple the Guernsey price – to 36.5p.

More recently a newly-proposed Control of Electricity Prices (Sark) Law, 2015 would see Chief Pleas' Policy Performance Committee able to order the commissioner to determine whether the price is 'fair and reasonable', and if it is not, further action could be taken.

But Sark in Action for Families and Employment has said there is not enough information in the public domain.
