THE Blue Diamond Group has added a 13th garden centre to its portfolio.

The Guernsey-based business, which owns Le Friquet Garden Centre, has just completed the purchase of Fryer's Garden Centre in Knutsford, Cheshire, for a reported £2.7m.

Fryer's Garden Centre, which is 86,000sq. ft in area, is best known for the growing of roses and has won 12 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.

It was established in 1912 by Arthur Fryer.

Alan Roper (pictured), managing director of Blue Diamond, said the business had been interested in Fryer's for the past two years and the takeover process had started six months ago.
