DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond, and Olympians Steve Backley and Roger Black were among the speakers at the Institute of Directors' annual convention at The O2 Arena.

They were seen by three 'directors of tomorrow' - sixth formers who won a competition organised by De Putron Fund Management at the IoD annual debate in Guernsey.

Ben Batiste and Tom Henry, from the Grammar School, and Ellie Freestone, from Ladies' College, were accompanied by Mark Palfrey, vice-chairman of the Guernsey Institute of Directors, and Yvonne Tanner from the College of Further Education.

'The students were selected for their enthusiasm, strong opinions and potential,' said Mr Palfrey.
