GUERNSEY can control its own destiny while global uncertainties force other jurisdictions into difficult economic decisions, Royal Bank of Scotland's chief economist has said.

But Andrew McLaughlin warned the island should not lose focus on strengthening its economic position just because it has survived better than most in the current climate.
He was in the island meeting local clients to discuss global economic risks facing their businesses.
Mr McLaughlin said politicians had come up with the right answers to solving the global financial crisis, but were not moving as quickly as some would hope.
