Guernsey's Blockbuster not on UK shop closure list

STAFF at Blockbuster received a boost this weekend when the Guernsey store was not on the list of the company's announced closures.

But the rental giant's joint administrators said on Saturday that they would continue to review the profitability of the store portfolio and further closures may have to be made in 'coming weeks'.

Blockbuster was the third major chain to head into administration last week following photography store Jessops and HMV.

It has a total of 528 stores across the UK, employing 4,190 staff – seven of whom are local.

A list has been published of the 129 stores across the nation that will be forced to shut.
