Speaking at the Women in Professions 'Question Time' event, Gavin St Pier, Jonathan Le Tocq, Kevin Stewart and Education Minister Robert Sillars, plus Deputy Heidi Soulsby, all supported lifelong learning and further education opportunities.
The question of continued financial support for university students in the form of grants was raised and the ministers, particularly Treasury and Resources minister Deputy St Pier, appeared to accept that changes across the board might be needed.
'This is a time for choices,' he said.
'How do we want to use the limited resources that we have to support higher education? How we support tertiary education is a huge challenge. We cannot continue to support the system we have ad infinitum.'
