KPMG chooses Jersey for islands conference

In all 85 people from the firm were involved in the four-day event, which took place at the Radisson Blu, including staff from Bermuda and the Bahamas and global heads from around the KPMG network.

They discussed cross-jurisdictional issues including tax systems, transparency, disruptive forces affecting the islands, the firm and clients, and the future for global markets generally.

A number of external speakers also featured, including Guernsey's Treasury and Resources minister, Deputy Gavin St Pier and Jersey's Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst and Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf.

Key issues discussed included the opportunities and challenges of the digital world, where the debate identified opportunities in fintech and ehealth.
