Franca Huang joined Ogier for an one-month internship at the beginning of January as part of an exchange programme initiated between Guernsey Finance, law firm Duan & Duan in Hong Kong and the East China University of Political Science and Law.
It is hoped that the visit will be just the first of a long-term link-up between local law firms and ECUPL students.
Guernsey Finance Asia representative Wendy Weng played a key role, alongside Steven Wang of Duan & Duan, to launch the initiative, while the Commercial Bar Association in Guernsey also supported it.
'We are delighted that this partnership has started off on such a positive note,' said Kate Clouston, director of international business development at Guernsey Finance.
'Our relationship with the East China University of Political Science and Law is an important component of the holistic approach we are taking to develop closer ties with China, not only by increasing business links but also by fostering a shared cultural understanding.
'We are grateful to Franca for taking part and look forward to welcoming new students in due course.'
