Firms involved in the programme, being run through Startup Guernsey and the Digital Greenhouse, include KPMG, Sure, First Central Group, PwC, Healthspan and the States.

The five-week paid summer internship has been designed specifically for the island's post-16 students or university students who are considering a digital career and want to work for local employers on a range of digital projects, including data analytics and telecommunications and app development to the digital arts, robotics, coding, gaming and digital marketing.

'Digital skills are the foundation of many of today's startups and allow anyone in Guernsey to link seamlessly to their clients, sources, new skills and inspiration wherever in the world they are,' said Jennifer Strachan, CEO of Startup Guernsey.

'I think people would be surprised at the amazing jobs people are doing on Guernsey, including some world-leading companies, which are only possible because of our digital reach. This makes the world smaller than ever.'
