‘Internet of Things’ can bring island real financial returns
GUERNSEY can cash in on the growth in industries based on big data in both connectivity and digital identity protection, according to a senior figure in the telecoms sector in the islands.

Graeme Millar, CEO at JT, said that the Internet of Things was a ‘terrific chance for Guernsey to grow – indeed, it is an area in which Guernsey can make real financial returns’.
And the island was ‘uniquely positioned’, he added, to develop and offer personal digital identity protection services.
‘There’s a lot of discussion and effort being put into protecting companies from GDPR [General Data Protection Regulation] liability, but I hear less about protecting consumers from breaches in the first place.'
