Chinese insurance venture ‘a positive step for island’

GUERNSEY’S first Chinese insurance company is being celebrated as good news for the island with potential for significant growth in the market.

Brilliant Reinsurance (Guernsey) is a captive insurance company being managed locally by Europe and Guernsey’s largest independent insurance manager, Alternative Risk Management, which has been prominent locally in leading the drive for business in China.

Brilliant Reinsurance will focus on Chinese business being retroceded from the Lloyd’s of London market.

The company’s directors are Dr Yu-Tsung Chien and captive industry veteran Malcolm Cutts-Watson as a non-executive.
