RH Gaudion established at Landes du Marche, in the premises now occupied by Cycleworld, in the early 1960s before moving a few yards into Camp du Roi a few years later. There it has gone from a filling station and hardware store and added separate animal feed and garden stores.

Director Martyn Gaudion, who accepted the award on behalf of the business at the Guernsey Construction Awards, said the company had kept strong links with the construction sector and its changing needs over the years. About half of its business came from trade customers, he said.

‘We have a very good customer base and we’re thankful for a good number who have worked with us for a long time,’ he said.
