‘Governance at all-time high’
GOVERNANCE professionals play a key role in ensuring transparency, accountability and Guernsey’s international standing as a safe place to do business.
Sara Bourne, chairwoman of the Guernsey branch of the ICSA: The Governance Institute, said at its annual dinner that the ‘Paradise Papers’ had reinforced their role in the industry.
‘This highlights the role we have to play in protecting the privacy of our clients, ensuring that the entities we run comply with laws, regulations and best practice, so that there is no truth to allegations made by the media, and the excellent reputation of our businesses and our island can be defended and maintained,’ she said. ‘Guernsey enjoys a worldwide reputation as a leading international finance centre because of the skilled professionals who work within the finance industry.
