Liz Van de Velde, HR manager at Babbe, was inspired to kick-start fundraising efforts after the Cardiac Action Group provided the law firm, and other companies’ staff in the same building, with training on how to use automated external defibrillators. The devices can save the life of a person who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

During the training, she discovered that the nearest defibrillator was either in Town Church Square or St James’s concert hall – so the idea of raising money for one of the devices for the Lower Pollet area was developed.

Funds were raised through donations from Babbe, Raven Russia and Moores Hotel (Sarnia Hotels Guernsey). A cake sale and raffle supported by donations from Babbe staff, Indica, Moores Hotel and Rosso also raised further funds.
