Guernsey Electricity one-day course for construction industry

GUERNSEY ELECTRICITY is offering a one-day course for construction professionals on changes to the sector’s code of practice on the island.

Health and safety expert Dave Jackson. (24132014)

The course will focus on understanding and engaging in the forthcoming review of Guernsey’s organisation and management in construction approved code of practice with a view to aligning to UK CDM regulations by adopting the principles set out in L153 Construction (Design & Management) regulation 2015 guidance on regulations.

The Health and Safety Executive in Guernsey is working towards adopting these changes in 2020, offering clearer guidance to construction professionals on how to discharge their duties.

Dave Jackson, pictured, health and safety services consultant at Faithful+Gould, will provide insight into CDM 2015, instigating discussion on nuances in the UK and Jersey construction industries and how Guernsey can be engaged in the development of its own CDM legislation.

‘Guernsey Electricity adopts the principles of CDM 2015 and we hope to see tighter integration across the industry as a result of the revised Guernsey construction approved code of practice,’ said Paul Le Tissier, planning and design lead for Guernsey Electricity.

‘The current code was agreed in 1996, so we have the opportunity to improve standards across the industry and improve safety standards for all construction projects. This is a specialist event and we hope that interested parties will take the opportunity to join the discussion into driving up standards in the construction industry and ensuring local legislation is fit for purpose.’

n The course takes place on Wednesday 27 March at Les Roquettes Hotel and tickets are now on sale for £75. They can be bought at www.eventbrite.com/e/the-construction-design-and-management-regulations-2015-training-tickets-56107832036.

Lunch will be provided.
