The appointment follows the news that Jessica Roland will retire from the firm’s partnership in 2020 to become Guernsey’s next Deputy Bailiff.

Mr Guthrie has been a partner with the firm since 2015 and leads the international trust and private client practice in Guernsey.

‘Matthew will bring a valuable perspective to the office managing partner role in Guernsey. He has an impressive track record of building strong, trusted relationships through collaboration with clients and colleagues, and combines this with an astute understanding of how the world they operate in is changing,’ said Mourant global managing partner Jonathan Rigby.

‘We’re an ambitious firm, focused on a clear strategy of being the leading business in our markets. Matthew’s ability to think globally, and to bring both internal and external perspectives to the table as we continue to grow, will be invaluable.’
