He will oversee the bank’s branch network and lead its retail, premier, wealth and mortgages services - having held a string of positions with HSBC since joining the bank in 2004. Most recently Mr Turner was a senior manager of the people experience HSBC UK team for the bank’s mortgage and wealth business.

His focus will be to ensure HSBC’s Guernsey retail customers receive the best possible service as well as supporting colleagues with their own continued professional development. He will also be organising events to inform customers about how to protect themselves against cybercrime.

‘Retail banking is evolving incredibly quickly as customers become more and more mobile and expect faster, easier solutions from us. Also increasing in line with this is the threat of cybercrime, which is why I’ll have a continued focus on helping our customers and the community stay protected in an ever-changing banking environment,' said Mr Turner.
